About the project
With more than six thousand loyal fans, the Humans of Nelson is a beautiful, touching, funny, and inspiring collection of photographs and stories celebrating our individuality and capturing the spirit of Nelson, British Columbia.
Photographer Ryan Oakley takes to the streets of Nelson, asking strangers if he can take their picture. Sometimes a bit of their conversation ends up as a caption to the photo.
This is a spin-off of the popular Humans of New York.
Enjoy!

Read MoreThe one on the left tells me she has a riddle to share:
One thing and only one philosophy brings the inner man free from violence and harm. It is superior to pains and pleasures. It does nothing without a purpose. It enables man to accept all that happens and all that is allotted. And finally to wait for death with a cheerful mind as being nothing else but a disillusionment of elements of which every living being is confounded of.
This is how she remembered it-as it came to her from a boyfriend. A Google search shows it's a (pretty close) quote from "The Philosophy of Antoninus".
Oh, and that's the dogs teddy bear. Which explains his concerned look.
